If hair loss has been a troubling issue for you, PRP injections may be a tool to help you to achieve a healthier head of hair!

PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) has been gaining popularity in the last few years. It is used for accelerated wound healing, facial rejuvenation and for hair loss. It can be injected or can be applied topically.

What is the procedure?

PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) therapy for hair loss is a three-step medical treatment in which a person’s blood is drawn, processed, and then injected into the scalp.

PRP injections trigger natural hair growth and maintain it by increasing blood supply to the hair follicle and increasing the thickness of the hair shaft. Sometimes this approach is combined with other hair loss procedures and hair loss supplements for best results.

How it works

There are no real risk associated with PRP. Injections are tolerable with minimal discomfort. There is no real downtime, although injected areas may feel a bit sensitive for a few days. Consistency is key for best results. Treatments are typically recommended once a month for 3 to 4 sessions. Results can take 5 months to a year to become apparent. Typically, some kind of maintenance program will be needed, although this can be different for each individual.
